Volunteers Week 2024

Celebrating Volunteers Week 2024

Huge huge sincere thank you to Kevin Stewart SNP MSP for mentioning our Saltire Summit Award Achiever Lucas Mackenzie's Achievement & Future Choices in the Scottish Parliament last night during his Parliament Motion on volunteers week

To watch the piece, starts around 18.30
Inner Ring Collective

Shining a spotlight on the volunteers we have supporting us away from the regular Tuesday gatherings.

We are bursting with excitement & can't wait to see the final edit of the film documenting our milestone 15th Anniversary, not only showcasing & highlighting what we do as a charity but highlighting carers too, which is so important.

Filming such a project is a huge undertaking & involves so much planning & preparation. ‘Inclusion: A Celebration of Future Choices’ is directed by Andrew Walker, featuring key moments throughout the 15th anniversary year captured by Andrew and the rest of the Inner Ring team. We are extremely grateful & blessed to have the team from Inner Ring Collective by our side, thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

You all are truly amazing people & we cannot thank you all enough for helping us to put all we do onto the screen for everyone to watch.

Keep your eyes peeled for when the film is ready.

OUR DRIVERS

The only way we can get to our social groups & other events is with transport, transport is vital as we go about our day to day lives. We are so lucky & fortunate to have 2 minibuses, 1 serving the north of the city & the other, the south. Simply put, without the 2 buses when we need them, the charity stops operating so it's with the loudest voice that we say a MASSIVE MASSIVE thank you with sincere gratitude & appreciation to our incredible drivers,

Gordon Reid, Roy Angus, Paul Dumont, Jim Murdoch, Janice Reavell, Graham Burnett, Peter Danielian

Between them all they help make sure the charity members can get out & socialise & that is deeply appreciated by all.
Outstanding Recognition - Moira Henderson

We want to recognise a lady that has contributed so much to Future Choices over the last 10 years & we are so grateful for everything she has brought to the charity.

Moira served on the management committee from the very early days & was involved in many public appeals & events & supporting the charity in every way she could. The dedication that Moira gave to the group was unmeasurable, seeing to others before herself, having a heart of gold, being there for as many people as possible & making a powerful impact in a positive way on our vulnerable members lives.

Moira had to step back from the management committee due to ill health & sadly can no longer attend our weekly sessions.

We miss Moira terribly as she brought so much joy to us & we want to say a massive THANK YOU for all you have done for Future Choices.
SUMMIT AWARD PRESENTATION

Very very proud moment today for our Saltire Awards Achiever, Lucas Mackenzie.

Lucas has completed his 500 hrs Saltire Awards last year & supported the work of the charity since starting his Saltire Awards journey, doing so much projects along the way!

Lucas has grown so much from a young boy starting out volunteering in his local community to become a young man with vast life experience, leadership & management skills along the way.

We couldn't be happier or more proud of Lucas as he was presented with a Summit Award by Lord Provost of Aberdeen , David Cameron & Mike Melvin from ACVO and Volunteer Aberdeen .

For Lucas to be presented this award is a true honour & privilege & is a shining example to those around his age that hard work certainly pays off & helping out in the community is very worthwhile.

Congratulations & Well done Lucas
SALTIRE AWARDS PRESENTATION

Alana Garden-Ross has today been presented with her 25hrs for volunteering.

Alana has become such an asset to the charity since joining, from fundraising to support another disabled charity to raising awareness of mental health as well as attending our Tuesday group to support our vulnerable members.

Alana will also be fronting our participation for this years Celebrate Aberdeen Parade.

Alana is a real example of what young people can succeed & strive towards.

Alana you do yourself extremely proud with everything you do for the community & are a credit to yourself & everyone that has the pleasure of knowing you.

Congratulations & well done Alana
Volunteers Week 2024

Kick-starting our week of celebrations & recognitions….

Chairman,

We, as a voluntary led charity in our 16th year are extremely proud to be still going strong but also grateful to be part of this national awareness campaign.

Volunteers are the heartbeat of our group, from our incredible drivers, our regular volunteers, those that volunteer to support our cause away from our Tuesday gatherings, the committee, without them, we really really couldn't carry on the vital work we do within the community.

There really is no amount of words we can say that will amplify how much our dedicated volunteers mean to us.

Thank you to our Saltire Awards Achievers, Zander Paul & Logan Paul for fronting our contribution to the national awareness platform.
